FAQ

The questions restaurateurs ask us most often when they start considering Florida.

Are you attorneys?

No, and that is deliberate. We do not provide legal, tax or financial advice. We structure your project, coordinate the process and connect you with the licensed professionals in our Florida network — immigration attorney, CPA, brokers. You deal with one point of contact, while each area of expertise stays with the professional whose job it is.

How much do I need to invest?

The law sets no fixed threshold. The investment must be “substantial” relative to the total cost of the business. In practice, successful small-business cases most often fall between $100,000 and $500,000. For a restaurant, the figure depends on whether you buy an existing business or build one from scratch, and on the liquor license involved — that is the first costing we do with you.

Can I buy an existing restaurant instead of opening one?

Yes, and it is often the stronger route. A business that already trades brings demonstrable revenue, licenses already in place and an existing clientele — all of which also strengthen an E-2 case.

How long does the process take?

Several months between the first call and the consular interview: scoping the project, finding the restaurant, committing the funds and building the case with the attorney. Consular timelines vary.

Will my spouse be able to work?

Yes. The spouse of an E-2 visa holder is authorized to work in the United States by virtue of their status, with no separate work permit to apply for, and for any employer — or self-employed.

Will my children go to school?

Yes. Children under 21 attend public or private school without a separate student visa. We help with choosing the school, school zoning and the enrollment calendar, which works nothing like the French one.

Does the E-2 visa lead to a green card?

Not automatically. The E-2 renews indefinitely as long as the business continues to qualify, but it is not in itself a path to permanent residence. Raise it with the attorney from the outset if that is your long-term goal.

Why Florida only?

Because real support rests on a proven local network: attorney, CPA, brokers, suppliers, contractors. We would rather cover one state properly than ten superficially. Florida also has a well-established French-speaking community and a very active restaurant market.

What do your services cost?

We do not publish our fees on this site. After the first call, which is free, we send you a detailed proposal: our support packages, what each one covers, and the corresponding fees, tailored to your project. That gives you a costing based on your actual situation rather than a generic price list.

What language do we work in?

French with you, English with the authorities, partners and suppliers. We can also attend your first appointments on the ground with you.
